Mangaluru City Corporation Pauses Dog License Mandate

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has withheld a previous decision to make pet dog licenses mandatory in the city. Initially issued as a solution to the issues caused by stray dogs, the MCC required pet parents provide various documentation to obtain a license for dog ownership in the city. canine lovers had to submit a copy of their Aadhaar card, two photos of their pet dog, and a no-objection certificate from their neighbours or apartment association to the city corporation, to obtain a license.

In a recent public notice, MCC commissioner Anand CL stated that the MCC has received several letters from residents regarding the license and its stipulations. “We have noticed the public expressing confusion regarding the issue. The process of drafting rules to obtain registration certificates for dogs is in progress. Public notice will be issued only after a final decision is taken. Hence, people need not be confused about no-objection certificate and documents till rules related to registration certificates for pet dogs are implemented,” the commissioner said.”

The MCC previously issued a public notice on November 27, instructing dog owners of the city to obtain a license for their pet from the MCC
