Uber Introduces Exciting New Features for Indian Riders: Price Lock, Pet-Friendly Rides, and Senior Citizen Mode
Uber India is enhancing its ride-hailing experience with a fresh set of features designed to boost affordability, convenience, and inclusivity for its users. From locking in fares to catering to pet owners and senior citizens, Uber’s latest offerings are tailored to meet the diverse needs of Indian commuters.
Price Lock: Say Goodbye to Surge Pricing Surprises
In December 2025, Uber will launch the Price Lock feature, allowing riders to pay a small upfront fee to fix fares on their frequently travelled routes. This innovative option aims to shield regular users from unpredictable surge pricing during peak hours or heavy traffic, ensuring more budget-friendly and reliable rides.
Complementing this, Uber’s Wait & Save option is already live in over 10 cities, letting riders enjoy lower fares by accepting slightly longer wait times. This offers a cost-effective alternative to premium services like Go Priority (which guarantees faster pickups at a higher price).
Uber Pet: Comfortable Rides for Your Furry Friends
Recognizing the growing number of pet owners, Uber has launched Uber Pet in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. This service allows users to book pet-friendly rides specifically for cats and dogs on a reservation basis, making it easier and more convenient to travel with pets across these major cities.
Simplified App Mode for Senior Citizens
To make ride-hailing more accessible for older adults, Uber will introduce a Simplified App Mode in July 2025. This version features larger buttons, streamlined navigation, and real-time ride tracking, providing a user-friendly experience tailored to the needs of senior citizens.
Expanding Services and Multimodal Travel Options
Uber is also stepping up its integrated travel solutions by enabling metro ticketing through ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) within its app. Starting with Delhi. this service is set to expand to Chennai and Mumbai soon, aiming to make urban commuting smoother and more connected.
Additional service expansions include:
- Courier XL: Available in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, this service supports delivery of heavier items up to 750 kg (such as furniture and appliances).
- Airport Priority Access: Offering streamlined airport pickups, this service is live in Pune and Hyderabad, with plans to launch in Mumbai and Noida shortly.
Commitment to User-Centric Innovation
Uber said these new features reflect its ongoing commitment to addressing real-world commuting challenges in India, focusing on cost-effectiveness, convenience, and inclusivity. Currently operating in over 125 cities with more than 1.4 million active drivers across India, Uber is evolving based on user feedback to better serve the needs of its diverse customer base.
