Philippine Airlines introduces FurPAL, letting pets fly in cabin
Philippine Airlines has launched its new FurPAL service, a pet-friendly travel option that allows small dogs to fly in-cabin on select domestic flights. This new program aims to make air travel easier and more comfortable for pet owners who want to bring their dogs along on vacation instead of leaving them behind.
Under the FurPAL service, small dogs weighing up to 10 kilograms, including the carrier, are now allowed inside the aircraft cabin. Pets must be placed in an approved soft-sided carrier that fits under the seat in front of the passenger. Philippine Airlines explained that this rule ensures safety, comfort and compliance with airline and aviation standards.
The FurPAL program is currently available on select domestic routes, including popular tourist destinations such as Boracay (Caticlan), Bohol (Tagbilaran), and Siargao. Philippine Airlines said the service may expand to more routes in the future depending on demand and operational feasibility.
To fly under the new in-cabin pet policy, owners must provide a valid pet health certificate, updated anti-rabies vaccination record, and the required travel permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry. Philippine Airlines also emphasized that pets should not be sedated for the flight, as it may cause health risks during travel.
The airline introduced FurPAL in response to the growing number of Filipino “fur parents” who prefer to travel with their pets. With more local destinations becoming pet-friendly, Philippine Airlines aims to support this trend by offering a safe and convenient pet travel option. The service also positions PAL as one of the few airlines in the Philippines to offer in-cabin pet accommodations beyond assistance animals.
Passengers can book the FurPAL service through the Travel Boost section when purchasing a ticket on the Philippine Airlines website. Each flight has limited slots for in-cabin dogs, so the airline recommends booking early to secure a space for your pet.
The launch of FurPAL shows Philippine Airlines’ commitment to improving passenger experience and adapting to modern travel needs. By allowing small dogs inside the cabin, PAL is building a more inclusive and pet-friendly environment for travellers across the country.
