Only 377 Pet Dogs Registered in Agra, Nagar Nigam Imposes INR 2,500 Fine for Non-Registration

Agra: The Agra Nagar Nigam has launched a strict drive to register pet dogs, cats, and other small animals across the city. Despite the large population of pet dogs in Agra, only 377 have been officially registered so far, according to municipal records.

To encourage responsible pet ownership, the Nagar Nigam has set the annual registration fee at INR 100 for Indian breed dogs and INR 500 for foreign breeds. Pet owners can complete the registration process online through the Mera Agra app or visit the Nagar Nigam office for offline registration.

In an effort to improve compliance, the municipal corporation has announced a fine of INR 2,500 for pet owners who fail to register their dogs. Additionally, if an unregistered pet is impounded, owners may be required to pay daily charges for the animal’s food and care.

Municipal officials have expressed concern over the low number of registered pets, given the city’s large pet population. The Nagar Nigam is urging all pet owners to register their animals promptly to avoid fines and legal complications. “Registration is not only a legal requirement but also helps us ensure the safety and well-being of pets and residents,” said a Nagar Nigam spokesperson.

To register a pet, owners can either download and use the Mera Agra app for online registration or visit the Agra Nagar Nigam office for offline registration.
With stricter enforcement and significant fines in place, Agra’s pet owners are advised to register their dogs and other pets without delay to avoid penalties and ensure compliance with municipal regulations.
