Navi Mumbai Pet Owners Must Register Dogs, Says Civic Body
Pet owners living within Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) limits are now required to obtain a valid dog licence, according to a recent reminder issued by the civic authorities. The rule is based on the NMMC Dog Tax Regulations, 1993, which were enacted under Chapter 11, Section 149(1) and Section 127(2)(a) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949.
While the regulations have been in place since 1993, the NMMC’s Health Department is responsible for enforcing them and issuing licences. To streamline the process, the civic body has now enabled dog licence applications through an online portal, making compliance easier for pet owners.
