Mumbai Gets Its First Dedicated Dog Park in Vashi

Pet Lovers, rejoice! Navi Mumbai has inaugurated its first dog park in Vashi. Fully equipped with playing areas and dog tunnels/ladders, the dog-exclusive park has been constructed and developed by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) for the use of pet parents, free of cost.

“Navi Mumbai is a 21st-century city and is equipped with all the facilities that a city requires”, said Divya Gaikwad, a former corporator from Vashi, who was central in establishing the park. “However, pet lovers have always complained that there is a lack of a dedicated place for dogs”, he said.

At 900 square meters in area and developed at Rs 26 lakh, the park is a welcome addition in a metropolitan city like Mumbai. While pet corners have been developed at a few parks across the city by the NMMC, this is the first park dedicated to dogs. The park is equipped with a dog walk ramp, jumping hurdles, a balance beam, hill climb, and bridge climb. “It is well designed and will serve as a dedicated space for dogs, pet owners, and pet lovers to spend quality time,” said Gaikwad.
