Marriott Bonvoy Launches Pawssible Journey in China

Marriott Bonvoy has announced a new pet-friendly travel program in Greater China called Pawssible Journey, created to give guests and their pets a more comfortable and convenient hotel experience. The initiative will begin rolling out in November 2025 across selected Marriott properties in the region.

The program focuses on three core experiences: Paw Stay, Paw Play, and Paw Mart. Each area is designed to make travelling with pets simpler and more enjoyable. The Moxy Shanghai Putuo will feature dedicated Paw Stay rooms with pet bedding, feeding bowls, and small tents for cats and dogs. Le Meridien Xi’an Chanba will introduce Paw Play spaces and pet-friendly activities such as themed afternoon tea, while Aloft Taipei Beitou will include a Paw Mart section offering travel accessories and souvenirs for pets. 

Guests will also have access to a new feature called the Paw Passport, which allows owners to create pet profiles during check-in. Each stay earns stamps and levels of recognition like silver paw, gold paw and platinum paw, with benefits available at participating hotels. Some properties will also provide pet-friendly maps, “Wall of Paws” photo displays, and strollers for guest use. 

Betty Tian, Managing Vice President, Customer Group, Greater China at Marriott International, said the program was developed in response to a noticeable increase in guests traveling with pets. Tian noted that the trend has grown steadily across China’s hospitality sector, leading hotels to adapt their offerings. 

China’s pet economy continues to grow rapidly, reaching an estimated RMB 300 billion, about USD 41 billion in 2024, according to market data. As pet ownership rises and domestic tourism expands, demand for hotels that welcome animals has increased. With Pawssible Journey, Marriott Bonjoy joins other international hotel groups introducing pet-friendly concepts in the region. Information on participating hotels and full program details will be available on the Marriott Bonvoy website from November 2025.
