Lucknow Municipal Corporation Collects INR 22,000 in Fines During Surprise Pet Licensing Drive
Lucknow: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) carried out an unannounced inspection across Zone-3 on Saturday morning to identify pet dogs without valid licenses. The drive covered Sectors L, M, N, and O, resulting in the collection of INR 22,000 through on-spot fines and licensing fees.
During the operation, three pet dogs (two Pomeranians and a Pug) were temporarily taken into custody. All were returned to their owners after penalties were paid. LMC officials noted that certain residents attempted to evade the inspection or influence the municipal team. Their details were recorded, and formal notices will be issued. Copies of these will also be shared with the local police.
According to LMC estimates, the city has around 10,000 pet dogs. Under the Dog Control By-law, 2003, all dogs must be registered. Pet owners can complete the licensing process online at lmc.up.nic.in or visit the animal welfare office in Lalbagh.
