Kolkata: First Pet-Friendly Durga Puja Pandal Inaugurated by Kolkata

Preparations for the biggest festival in Kolkata are well underway. With the arrival of Ma Durga imminent, preparations are in full swing. Various pandals displaying unique art forms have sprung up in and around the city, already drawing crowds as the celebrations slowly build up. There is one pandal though, which has particularly garnered people’s affection and attention.

The Bidhan Sarani Atlas Club Durga Puja pandal had four very special guests for their inauguration, with members of the Kolkata Police dog squad gracing the festivities. In an image shared by the Kolkata Police on Twitter, pictures of the four dogs bowing and paying their respect have won the internet’s heart.

“Paw Stars! Yesterday, 4 members of our Dog Squad – Labradors Molly & Camphor, German Shepherds Liza and Dinky made a very special appearance as chief guests at the inauguration of Kolkata’s first pet-friendly Durga Puja, courtesy Bidhan Sarani Atlas Club. Sharing a few glimpses,” read the caption by Kolkata Police.

The post has since racked up over 2,000 likes on Instagram, and has been shared on Twitter as well. The festivities will commence on October 1 and conclude on October 5, with this period of time being known as Durgotsava.
