GHMC Cracks Down on Unregistered Pets at KBR Park, Allows Licensed Dogs Only
Hyderabad: In a bid to ensure better hygiene and public safety, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has announced that only licensed pet dogs will be allowed inside KBR Park. GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan issued the directive during an inspection of development works at the city’s popular urban forest, calling the measure part of a broader push to enforce park rules and promote responsible pet ownership.
The new restriction aims to tighten oversight and improve compliance with civic norms within the park, where pet-related complaints have occasionally surfaced. Officials confirmed that the rule would be implemented strictly, with a focus on maintaining both cleanliness and the safety of other parkgoers.
While inspecting infrastructure upgrades at KBR Park, Karnan also directed engineers to adopt more innovative and efficient methods to speed up completion of walker-friendly pathways. The initiative forms part of GHMC’s efforts to enhance public spaces without compromising on environmental and civic standards.
Later in the day, the commissioner visited construction sites of flyovers and underpasses being built under the H-City Project. He reviewed whether the ongoing works conformed to court-mandated limits in the environmentally sensitive zone. Officials assured him that the projects were in full compliance with judicial orders.
The GHMC reiterated that the inspection and the enforcement directives reflect the corporation’s commitment to sustainable urban development and better governance across public spaces.
