Delhi to Get Its First Pet Park This Year in Jangpura

Jangpura, Delhi: Delhi is likely to get its first pet park this year in Jangpura after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) revived the long-pending project in South Delhi. Fresh tenders for the project were reportedly issued in May.

The proposed Delhi pet park will be developed on nearly 1.5 acres of land near the Jangpura Defence Colony flyover. Officials said the dedicated pet-friendly space is expected to include play zones, walking trails, a swimming area, grooming facilities, a pet daycare centre and veterinary support services.

According to reports, the dog park in Delhi may accommodate more than 20 dogs at a time and will also have a double-gated entry system to improve safety.

The MCD pet park project had remained stalled for several years before being revived recently. Authorities are now expected to finalise an agency to manage the facility under a public-private partnership model.

The project comes as pet ownership continues to rise across Delhi, especially in apartment communities where residents often rely on regular parks and open spaces for walking pets. The new facility is expected to improve pet-friendly infrastructure in Delhi by offering a dedicated recreation and care space for animals.

If completed on schedule, the upcoming Jangpura pet park could become one of the city’s first organised public spaces designed specifically for pets and their owners.
