Delhi: ‘Memory Park’ for Pet Lovers Started in Dwarka

The MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) launched a ‘memory park’ for pet parents and pet lovers on the 13th August, 2022. Ashwini Kumar, the MCD’s special officer, inaugurated the park in Sector 29, Dwarka.

In the park, people can plant a sapling as a tribute to their pets who have moved on to their heavenly abode. According to Municipal Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti, an eco-friendly crematorium for small animals is also being constructed, under the supervision of the veterinary services department, and will be completed shortly.

The Municipal Commissioner also said that the crematorium is being constructed via a public-private- partnership model, in association with the Green Revolution Foundation. The commissioner stated the following: “Two furnaces of 200 kg biomass are being installed in this crematorium which will be used for the last rites of animals like dogs, cats etc”.

A senior official stated that the MCD is trying to provide the best facilities to citizens and that the development of a small animal crematorium alongside a healthy & sustainable memory park is a significant step towards the same.
