Noida New Pet Policy

North Okhla industrial Development Authority, also known as Noida, has recently passed a new pet policy. With a change in policy, there are certain freshly formulated rules that you must abide by, or risk getting fined. Here are the new rules that parents of cats and dogs will have to follow.

  • All owners of cats in the city must register their pet with their local municipal corporation. A registration fee must be paid, which typically costs 500/- INR annually, and must be submitted and renewed in April. You will require your pets vaccination record to apply for registration, which must be issued by a licensed veterinary professional.
  • Pet travel outdoors for owners of dogs and cats is forbidden unless the pet is on a leash. A special leash with a barcode will be issued by the municipal corporation. This code on the leash will contain your pets’ details. Owners are also forbidden from leaving their pets outside of their house.
  • All owners must carry a veterinary health certificate with them, if their pet suffers from any diseases or health issues. Dogs registered on the Noida authority PET Registration app will be provided with a free rabies vaccination. Pet owners can call 9999352343 for medical help and other mandatory procedures such as neutering.
  • All owners will be responsible for cleaning up after their pet if they urinate or defecate in a public space. If your pet happens to pass away, the Noida authorities must be informed via the PET Registration app.
  • The Noida authorities will conduct investigations and pursue legal recourse against an owner, if there is a complaint against them of animal cruelty. Strict action will be taken if such allegations are true. Action will also be taken against owners who neglect their pet.

If you live in Noida with your pet, you must register them by January 31. Owners who fail to do so will be fined. The fines are:

  • 2000/- INR for failing to sterilize your pet
  • 5000/- INR for owners running an unauthorized breeding center in their house/flat
  • 10,000 INR/- for dog biting cases

There are several new mandates that pet owners in Noida must abide by. Non-compliance can be punishable with fines and imprisonment, so it is best to familiarize yourself with it as soon as possible. With the ever-increasing number of stray dogs, and a rabies titer test being expensive, it is important to register your pet, and make sure that you as a pet owner are taking responsibility for them indoors & outdoors.
