4. CDC Dog Import Permit:

As of July 14, 2021, there is a temporary suspension for dogs entering the United States from high-risk dog rabies countries. Hence, all dogs entering the United States from countries classified as high-rabies must apply for an import permit.

5. Export Health certification:

An International Health certificate is required for a pet to enter the U.S.A.

6. Rabies Titer test (For Dogs):

Pet must have a blood sample taken at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination and sent to a CDC-approved blood testing laboratory. The results of the blood test must show that the vaccination was successful (rabies antibody level of at least 0.5 IU/ml). Titer test sample must be drawn at least 45 days before US entry.

7. Tapeworm & Screwworm inspection (For Dogs)

The dog must be accompanied by a certificate signed by a veterinary of the region of origin stating that the dog has been inspected for screwworm within 5 days before shipment to the United States.

8. CDC Import Permits:

CDC Dog Import Permits will not be issued upon arrival. Dogs that were vaccinated against rabies outside of the United States and arrive from high-risk countries without a CDC Dog Import Permit will be denied entry and returned to the country of departure at the importer’s expense

9. Documentation of Pet Owner:

A copy of the passport, air ticket, and visa of the owner is mandatory to be produced as the Government of India does not allow a pet to travel or relocate to another country without the pet parent.

10. Crate Training

You need to get the right sized crate for your pet and train them to get comfortable as they will spend the duration of travel in it.
